July 15th — July 20 — First Check-In (Summaries Due)
August 15th — August 20 — Second Check-In (5000+ words required)
August 25th — Artist Claims (for stories at 5000+ words only)
September 15th — September 20 — Third Check-In for Authors, Artist Check-In
October 15th — October 20 — Final Check In and Pinch Hitter Cutoff; Stories complete, beta read, and edited; Art complete
November 1st— Posting StartsDates subject to change but not without plenty of warning.

Below is some basic information about the check-ins, but more detailed information with clear instructions will be sent via email before each one.First Check-In: Preliminary summaries do not have to be incredibly detailed or comprehensive. We want to make sure you are thinking about your story idea since we’re about a month and a half into the Big Bang. You are not stuck with the summary you submit here. If you change your mind between now and the Artist Claim Summary, that is just fine!Second Check-In: Your Artist Claim Summary is due, and you must have at least 5,000 words written for your story to be eligible to be claimed by artists. This summary is a lot more detailed than your first one and includes not only a summary of the story, but information such as your story’s rating, characters and relationships, tags/warnings, genre, and major visual elements. It also includes questions about the type of artwork you would prefer, what your current word count is, and how complete your story is. Click here to see examples of past Artist Claim Summaries on our tumblr page.Third Check-In: For writers, we’re checking on your progress with your story (e.g. word count and percent complete). For writers and artists, we want to check and see how communication is going between you and the author/artist you are paired with.Final Check-In: Less than a month until posting begins! We’re checking story progress, any communication struggles or needs, and extenuating circumstances you may have happening. This is the final opportunity to pair you or your partner with a pinch-hitter, if needed. However, please let us know before this time if you are having communication troubles with your partner or if extenuating circumstances are affecting your progress or ability to participate in the Big Bang! We cannot help you if we don’t know what is happening!
